As winter comes, the temperature keeps dropping. We all know that low temperature has a certain impact on the use of forklift batteries. For different types of forklift batteries, the maintenance of electric forklift batteries in winter cannot be ignored. The following describes the low temperature conditions How to maintain and maintain the battery.
How to replenish water for electric forklift batteries in winter
First of all, we must pay attention to the distilled water in the electric forklift battery. The battery will consume electricity faster in winter due to the lower temperature. If you want to ensure that the battery has long-lasting power, you must not let the distilled water be in short supply.
In a low-temperature environment (below 0°C), when the battery is about 50% charged, there is a risk of freezing the electrolyte. The electrolyte is composed of water and sulfuric acid. The higher the sulfuric acid content, the greater the specific gravity of the electrolyte. , the freezing temperature will be lower.
When replenishing water for the battery in winter, it should be fully charged and the ambient temperature should not be too low, so that the electrolyte and water can be mixed evenly, otherwise the water floating above the electrolyte will freeze due to uneven mixing.
The operation of adding water to the forklift battery is complicated and error-prone, and the manual water addition control is not accurate. Too much or insufficient water will affect the balance of battery characteristics and shorten the service life of the battery. The battery is filled with a water gun, one-button water replenishment, the nozzle limit stopper controls the liquid level height, the water is full and the sensor stops automatically, ensuring the consistency of the water level and effectively improving the maintenance efficiency of water filling.
Precautions for winter maintenance of electric forklifts
- When the forklift lead-acid battery is not in use, it should be stored indoors at a temperature above 0°C. Before storage, clean the outside of the battery, fully charge it, and turn off the power switch.
- In winter, when the battery is discharged to 50%, the electrolyte is in danger of freezing. The electrolyte is composed of water and sulfuric acid. The higher the content of sulfuric acid in the electrolyte, the higher the specific gravity of the electrolyte and the lower the freezing temperature of the electrolyte.
- The temperature of the electrolyte has a great influence on the capacity of the battery. Every time the ambient temperature decreases by 1°C (the standard temperature is 25°), the capacity will decrease by about 1~2%. For this reason, to increase the temperature of the electrolyte, the forklift should be parked indoors, or the battery should be moved into a room above 0°C.
- Distilled water should be added to the battery to mix evenly with the electrolyte. If it is too late to mix well, the distilled water floating on top of the electrolyte will freeze. For this reason, add distilled water to the battery in winter. It should be noted that distilled water can only be added after it is fully charged, so that the electrolyte and distilled water can be mixed quickly, so that it will not freeze.
More attention should be paid to the maintenance of electric forklift batteries in winter. If the battery needs to be stored for a long time, it must be placed in a relatively warm place, and it must be charged regularly to prevent the battery from freezing and shortening the life of the battery.
